Ruy Ohtake: arquitetura para pessoas
Among the aspects that differentiate this significant publication is its innovative visual and theoretical approach, marked by the conceptual originality of Ruy Ohtake, who is considered one of the leading exponents of contemporary architecture in Brazil. With about 250 pages, Ruy Ohtake: arquitetura para pessoas seeks to emphasize his work's social concerns—an aspect until then underexplored in the analysis of the architect's production, and that stands out, for example, in his work in the community of Heliópolis, in São Paulo. Each project in the book is presented through an original photographic essay by Cristiano Mascaro. This series of images, which are accompanied by plans and sketches of the projects, acquire a stronger essayistic character with the graphic design of Claudia Warraq. This unique publication also includes texts by Terence Riley, an American architect; Julio Roberto Katinsky, a Brazilian architect and professor at the School of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo; Paul Clemence, a Brazilian photographer based in the United States, specialized in architecture; and Bianca Antunes, the book's editor.
Ruy Ohtake: arquitetura para pessoas [Ruy Ohtake: Architecture for People] results from a project supported by the Brazilian Ministry of Culture's Law for Cultural Incentive and sponsored by the pharmaceutical company União Química.
