Poiesis Bruscky covers fifty years of the career of conceptual artist Paulo Bruscky, who was born in Recife in 1949. In the 1960s and throughout the military dictatorship, Bruscky used mail art, collage, artist books, visual poetry, and interventions in newspapers to launch his criticisms—often with good humor—about the political situation in Brazil. The artist is known for his bold political performances (these often put him in direct conflict with the law or the military authorities), sculptures, sound art, and art in public spaces. Bruscky also corresponded with members of Fluxus and assembled one of the largest collections in Latin America with works by the group. In this volume, a singular monograph suited for the artist's preference for the printed media, Bruscky's work is introduced to readers through comments by the writer and critic Adolfo Montejo Navas. Edited by Associação para o Patronato Contemporâneo (APC) in partnership with Cosac Naify, the publication also includes a CD with sound and experimental poems.
